We review and extend recent studies of dilaton effective field theory (dEFT) that provide a framework for the description Higgs boson as composite structure. first describe dEFT applied to lattice data class gauge theories with near-conformal infrared behavior. This includes associated spontaneous breaking (approximate) scale invariance set pseudo-Nambu–Goldstone bosons (pNGBs) an internal global symmetry. The contains two small symmetry-breaking parameters. display leading-order (LO) Lagrangian its fit SU(3) Nf=8 Dirac fermions in fundamental representation. then develop power-counting rules identify corrections emerging at next-to-leading order (NLO) action. list NLO operators appear estimates coefficients. comment on implications model building.
